HEALTH & WELLNESS GAMES & ACTIVITIES

Below are some wellness contests and games that you may try at your own agency or school. If your employer is a participant in the health plans offered through the Oklahoma State and Education Employees Group Insurance Board, we will offer support for your wellness endeavors and will provide quality programs.

Tips, hints and techniques for promoting your health activities:

Remember: Healthy change takes time.

The key is to advertise/publicize your event as much as possible.

You should try to involve employees in developing, planning and

implementing your programs.

Your enthusiasm will be the primary means of increasing participation.

Use incentives sparingly—don’t overdo.

Be Creative. Employees often times like to receive a personal invitation to participate and a letter of support from top management is also a good incentive.

Give awards such as Healthy Employee of the Month.

Put the monthly wellness posters, that HealthChoice will be providing you with, in prime visual locations throughout your agency or school.

These programs are simple in design to avoid excessive responsibilities for you.

Let us help you with setting up your recordkeeping!

Good Luck & Have Fun!

Incentive Items – Ideas for incentives would be ribbons for reaching their first 100, 200, 300 miles and so on, their names posted on the bulletin board with miles walked each month or solicit support from local businesses. Call or visit in person while you are there to shop!Or contact the H.E.L.P. office at HealthChoice 1-800-318-BEOK or (405) 717-8991 for further information, Walking Kits or technical assistance and support.

Walking Steps – This article includes tips and hints as well as warm-up exercises.

One Mile Walking Test – For 30 to 69 year olds to help them evaluate their general aerobic fitness level.

Benefits of Walking – Health, Fitness and Emotional Benefits.

If you are unable to get a walking club started at your agency or school, don’t forget, HealthChoice started a walking club and has around 2,500 members. If you have HealthChoice employees interested in walking on their own, please contact our office and we will be happy to enroll them in the HealthChoice Walking Club. They will receive the same articles and log forms, however, we will provide the incentive items at each 100 miles logged.
